GRAVES Abbott Fuller (1859-1936) Nationality : American

Abbott Fuller Graves was originally considered a member of the Boston School, Abbott Fuller Graves is best known as a painter of Kennebunkport, Maine. Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Graves studied painting both in New England and abroad, traveling to Paris in 1884, where he studied flower painting under Georges Jeannin, the foremost practitioner of the genre in Europe. Upon Graves' return to Boston, he became an instructor at the Cowles Art School, working closely with friend and celebrated young American Impressionist, Childe Hassam. Like Hassam, Graves was deeply attached to the New England landscape, particularly its historic architecture and lovely old flower gardens.
